Here you can appreciate the beautiful natural landscapes, agricultural fields and rural settlements. This lookout’s name derives from its religious cross, built in the twentieth century.

The Miradouro da Cruz Salvé-Rainha is a lookout point that is located amidst the Serra de Montejunto mountain, the highest lookout point in Estremadura. From here one can observe part of the geological structure of Serra de Montejunto, nicknamed Varanda da Estremadura, with 15 kilometres length and 7 kilometres width. This limestone massif, corroded by the erosive action of the saline winds that come from the ocean, constitutes the southern limit of the “Maciço Calcário Estremenho”.

Since Serra de Montejunto is classified as Protected Landscape and integrates Rede Natura, from this site one can appreciate its beautiful natural landscapes and observe other very interesting ones, such as the farm fields, divided in small properties where cultivation is diverse and the rural settlements, especially the mountain village of Pragança.

Curiously, this lookout’s name is due to the existing cross of religious architecture, built in the 20th century.
